Grade 4

Ms. Richter

Meet Ms. Richter

Tell me about yourself.

I graduated with my teaching degree from Texas Woman’s University. I began teaching in MSAD 40 teaching 1st and 4th grades. I have taught both 1st and 4th in RSU 13 as well as Title 1 reading and math. This is my eighth year in this district.

I live in Rockland with my two sons who are successful 8th and 12th grade students in this district. We enjoy hiking and visiting cities, museums, and national parks during our summers.

Why do you like to teach fourth grade?

I enjoy the children’s literature that is read in 4th grade. I appreciate the independence of 4th graders.

What are your favorite student units?

I love teaching about Maine and the rest of the states. I do love a road trip!

What is your plan for parent contact?

I would like parents to feel free to email (rrichter@rsu13.org) or call me with any questions or comments. Feel free to tuck a note into your child’s school to home folder anytime.

What are your homework guidelines?

Fourth graders will have homework Monday through Thursday that will mostly include reading (minimum of 20 minutes each night) and math. It is important for homework to be done each night and returned the following day.

Why do you like to teach fourth grade?

I love seeing students grow in their independence. It is so fun watching them improve throughout the year.

What are your favorite student units?

Math is my favorite subject to teach. I am also very excited to teach about Maine!

What is your plan for parent contact?

Parents can always contact me through email acosgrove@rsu13.org or call Thomaston Grammar School at 207-354-6353.

What are your homework guidelines?

Students have to read for at least 20 minutes 4 nights per week. Beyond reading, homework will be assigned if classwork does not get completed during the school day.
