6th Grade Math

Parents frequently ask, "How can I help my child in math?" A few things come to mind. First, ask to see your child's notebook once a week. It should be in order with vocabulary defined. Ask your child to explain the vocabulary in their own words with an example. Encourage your child to write down any specific questions that they might have. A good example of this might be, I still don't understand the difference between factors and multiples.

In the books you will notice something called Homework Help Online. This appears in the upper right of many of the pages in the book. This is another resource that can help your child at home. Because it is online I find that students are engaged and will attend for a period of time.

Connected Math is a language based math program that was developed to meet state and national standards. Math reasoning, written language and critical thinking skills are important components of this program. It is academically challenging but fun and interesting as well. Please feel free throughout the year to contact me with questions or concerns regarding your child.
