School Counselor - Hope Hersom

My career as a school counselor began years ago at the high school level after receiving my Masters degree from the University of New Hampshire. I left the profession to marry and start a family, and was a stay-at-home mom for many years. Ten years ago, I returned to working with students as the school librarian in the former MSAD #5. Five years later, I returned to counseling and have worked at various schools in RSU 13. I am currently enjoying my time at Thomaston Grammar School and Owls Head Central School.

I believe in a comprehensive counseling approach, which means that I meet with students individually, in small groups, or conduct classroom lessons. Collaborating with teachers and parents is also an essential part of my job.

My hobbies include listening to Broadway music, attending or participating in musical productions if the opportunity arises, walking, practicing yoga, and reading.
