Pi Day 2014

  Pi Day

PI DAY at the Lura Libby School

Due to an unexpected snow day, the students at the Lura Libby and Cushing Community School celebrated Pi Day a month later than most math enthusiasts.  Pi Day, the celebration of the  irrational number Pi is actually March 14th (Albert Einstein's birthday).  Students spent the day rotating through a variety of math stations.  They played math games, listened to a story about Pythagorean Theorem, created art with shapes and patterns, ate yummy geometric shapes, and sang songs.    Pi Day at the two schools is a day for children to recognize that math is all around us, and how fun math actually can be!
