Responsibility Awards Assembly at Thomaston Grammar School

Several students at Thomaston Grammar School were recognized for responsibly at a school-wide assembly on December 2nd. Students receiving the Responsibility Award were: Mattie Stenger, Scarlett Carver, Seamus Henry, Sonny Pittocco, Nova Clements, Ella Curry, Jane Smith, Giuliana Rubino, Hadley Hatch, Adeline Dorey, Kaiya Clements, Alyce Hare, Emery Sturks, Hazel Dare, Jaxon Hopkins, and Noa Silverstein.

Responsibility can be reflected in many areas of our lives. The most important aspect of being responsible is being accountable to oneself.  Students who are responsible take ownership of their actions.  They make sure to do what is required of them and also to do what is right, without being told or reminded to do so. They take responsibility for their choices and decisions.

Throughout the month, students were awarded daily tickets for being responsible. These tickets were put into a raffle and six lucky winners were drawn at the assembly. Winners received their choice of a prize, including gift cards donated by local businesses or lunch or game with Mrs. Riley. This month’s winners were: Lorilei Walsh, LorLei Grout, James Magnoli, Shawn King, Ryleigh Gagnon, and Ezra Reed.

Shawn King also received the Principal’s Award. Shawn is an amazing member of the Thomaston Grammar School community.  Shawn consistently does the right thing and gives others advice and guidance to do the right thing as well.  His classmates and friends look to him as an example of how to be.  He is safe, kind, and tries his best always.

The Friends and Family of TGS has been running a wreath sales fundraiser. Top-selling students from each grade level were announced and received a prize. These students were: Avery Moore (pre-K), Katie Davis (kindergarten), Levi Saroka (grade 1), Wyatt Hendron (grade 2), Ryman Ames-Allan (grade 3), Alyce Hare (grade 4), and Caleb Stinson (grade 5).

To get in the holiday spirit, the assembly concluded with a festive game. Award recipients were tasked with creating human Christmas trees! Five teachers, and our special guest, the Grinch, were wrapped in green streamers and then decorated by the students. Team Christmas Tree was the winner, with Team Mayor close behind. Congratulations to our winning team members, Mrs. Cosgrove, Emery Sturks, Hadley Hatch, and Scarlett Carver!

Next month, students at TGS will be focusing on gratitude.

Congratulations to all the students who received awards at TGS this month!
