First Day of School Reminders

1st Day of School = September 8th

We are so excited to see the TGS students back in school on Tuesday, September 8th. Below are some important reminders to help you to be ready for the first day of school.

· Thomaston Grammar School will be using a new communication system called Class Dojo. You should receive an invite to join this in your email. Please sign up to receive important messages and updates. We need 100% participation to ensure that all parents get needed information.

· Face masks must be worn at school and on the school bus. Gators, bandanas, and face masks with vents in them are not permitted. If you need a mask for your student(s), please contact the school.

· Because bus seating is limited, if you are able to drive your student(s) to school, please do so.

· Students should not be on school grounds prior to 8:10 a.m. (unless they are already enrolled in the TGS paid before care program). Drop off is between 8:10 and 8:30. Upon arrival, students will go straight to their homerooms.

· Parents are not allowed in the building without prior approval from the building administrator.

· You must complete the Daily Self Screening Tool before sending your student(s) to school. Do not send him/her if the Daily Self Screening Tool indicates that he/she should stay home. You can find a copy of this in the RSU 13 Reopening Plan in Appendix A. The plan is on the RSU 13 website along with some important Frequently Asked Questions that you will want to review if you haven’t yet.

· If your student will be out sick, please contact the school in the morning prior to 9:00 a.m. to alert us that he/she will be absent.

· Please charge your student’s iPad the night before school begins and have your student bring the iPad and charger back to school on September 8th. They will be needed for class instruction.

· If you have any library books at home, please bring those back on September 8th.

· On the first day of school, please provide your student with breakfast if you are able to do so. Each day after that, a free breakfast will be sent home with students at the end of the school day to be eaten the morning of the next school day. Your student will be coming home with milk so be sure that makes it into the refrigerator.

· A free school lunch will be provided daily. If your student wishes to bring a lunch from home, he/she is welcome to do so.

· Sharing of food is not permissible. Please do not send food items in to be shared with your student’s class as they will not be able to be handed out.

· Please send your student with a water bottle, labeled with his/her name. Water fountains cannot be utilized this year. Let the school know if you need help getting a water bottle for your student.

· Please see the previously posted arrival and dismissal procedures and familiarize yourself with them. Reminder that parents walking to pick up their student(s) must wear masks and keep 6 feet of distance from others.

· If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the school at 354-6353.
