Responsibility & Positive Attitude Awards at Thomaston Grammar School

Several students at Thomaston Grammar School were recognized for responsibly and having a positive attitude at a school-wide Zoom assembly on April 8th. Students receiving the Responsibility Award were: Joy Chen, Vivian Holom, Caleb Stinson, Jaxon Hopkins, Harlow Peterson-Crute, Oliver Hedstrom, Nora Simms, Steven Marriner, Meredith Lewis, Lynell Gendron, Natalie Jordan, Maya Catapano-Kangas, Shawn King, and Amelia Stewart. Students receiving the Positive Attitude Award were: Evelyn Fish, Norah Smith, Jordyn McDonald, Alden Wakem, Mya Rodriquez, Mylee Anderson, Olive Grierson, Austin Haskell, Isabella O’Clair, Trevor Farrington, Leah McLellan, Eva O’Hare, Owen Simmons, Vivian Holom, and Sophia Davis.

Responsibility can be reflected in many areas of our lives. The most important aspect of being responsible is being accountable to oneself.  Students who are responsible take ownership of their actions.  They make sure to do what is required of them and also to do what is right, without being told or reminded to do so. They take responsibility for their choices and decisions.

Students with a positive attitude look on the bright side and try to see the good in others and in the situation at hand.  Their positivity and optimism is contagious and they help those around them to feel that they can accomplish what needs to be done.  They always strive to do their best and help others to feel that they can as well.

Charlotte Stevens also received the Principal’s Award. Charlotte is an excellent student, classmate, and friend. She is kind, caring, accepting, honest, trustworthy, and so much more.  She exemplifies all of the attributes that we focus on here at TGS.  She treats everyone with respect, and she is a responsible student who puts forth her best effort at all times.  She works well with others and always cares about and listens to their thoughts and opinions.  She is a pleasure to have in any classroom.  She cares about her friends, classmates, teachers, and the greater school community.

Congratulations to all the students who received awards at TGS this month!
